Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula
Nawab Asaf-ud-Dowlah (1748 - 1797) is considered the Shah Jahan of Lucknow. He tried to surpass the fame Mughal architecture, building number of architectural delights like Bara Imambara,Asafi Mosque & Qaisar Bagh area. It is said that the construction of the Imambara was undertaken to provide employment and sustenance to the people during the famine of 1784. In 1775 he was the one to shift the capital of Awadh from Faizabad to Lucknow.
