Released in 2011 , Prakash Jha's political drama Rajniti featuring the big star cast of Ajay Devgan, Nana Patekar ,Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Arjun Rampal, Vivek Oberoi and Manoj Bajpai was shot vastly in Bhopal and surrounding areas. Main locations have been Kotra Sultanabad, village Bishan Khedi, Motiya Talab, Kaliasot Dam Temple, Iqbal Maidan, Bhadbhada Bridge Road and areas surrounding historical Moti Masjid.

Peepli Live

Made under Aamir Khan productions and directed by Anusha Rizvi,Peepli Live was shot at Badwai village near Bhopal , a small village 60 km off Bhopal. The movie was a satire on the present day politics , media and rural poverty. The principal cast consisted of Raghubir Yadav, Omkar Das, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Shalini Vatsa and Farrukh Jaffer .

Aarakshan

Starring Amitabh Bacchan, Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, Manoj Bajpai,this Prakash Jha's social commentry on education system and caste system of the country was also shot in Bhopal. In this moviie Oriental College is shown as STM College . Song "Achha Lagta Hai" has been shot at Bhojtal (Upper Lake).

Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi

This movie from the Rajshri productions had some reasonable amount of shooting done in Bhopal . It featured Eesha Koppikhar and Sonu Sood with Alok Nath, Smita Jayakar.

Chakravyuh

Prakash Jha again returned to his favourite shooting locations at Bhopal for his next film Chakravyuh. The film dealt with the issue of Naxalism and starred Arjun Rampal, Abhay Deol, Manoj Bajpayee.
